Introduction:
The Autumn 2026 anime season has gained one of its most emotionally resonant ending themes yet from one of Japan's most innovative artists. On October 5, 2026 (0:00 JST), Daoko officially released her latest digital single, "SYNC" — the ending theme for the TV anime TANK CHAIR (戦車椅子) , which premiered on October 4, 2026 on TOKYO MX and BS11.
The song arrives as a warm, comforting counterpoint to the intense violence of its parent series, capturing the bond between the protagonist and his sister with a "comfortable track and melody" that perfectly captures their relationship. The digital jacket artwork features a special illustration by original manga creator Yashiro Manabu (やしろ学), making this release a collector's item for fans of both the artist and the anime.
The Sound: A Warm Embrace Amidst the Violence:
"SYNC" is a track that embodies the emotional heart of TANK CHAIR. While the anime is a "violence action" series about assassins and modified wheelchairs, the ending theme offers a moment of quiet reflection — a musical portrait of the bond between the protagonist Taira Nagi and his sister Shizuka.
Why "SYNC" Matters:
A Song About Connection
The title "SYNC" — short for "synchronization" — perfectly captures the relationship between Shizuka and Nagi. Even when Nagi is unconscious, unable to speak or move, Shizuka remains by his side, their hearts in sync even when their bodies are not. The song is a musical representation of that bond: a quiet, unwavering connection that persists through silence and separation.
The Contrast That Defines Great Anime Themes
One of the hallmarks of a memorable anime ending theme is its ability to contrast with the intensity of the episode it follows. TANK CHAIR is a violence action series, filled with gunfire, killing intent, and high-stakes battles. "SYNC" offers something different: a moment of warmth, a breath of calm, a reminder that beneath the bloodshed, there is love. This contrast makes the song's impact even more powerful.
A Milestone in Daoko's Catalog
"SYNC" adds another dimension to Daoko's already remarkable discography. Following her work on Slime and her upcoming album BIRTH IN BLUE, it demonstrates her continued ability to create music that serves the story while maintaining her own artistic identity. The collaboration with Sasuke Haraguchi brings a fresh creative energy to her sound.
The Yashiro Manabu Connection
The jacket illustration by Yashiro Manabu is a rare and meaningful collaboration. It brings the creator of the original TANK CHAIR manga directly into the musical release, bridging the worlds of manga, anime, and music in a way that few tie-ups achieve. For fans of the series, the artwork is a treasure; for Daoko's fans, it is an introduction to the visual world that inspired the song.
A Prelude to BIRTH IN BLUE
With BIRTH IN BLUE arriving in December, "SYNC" serves as an early taste of what's to come. The album's title — BIRTH IN BLUE — suggests themes of renewal and rebirth, and "SYNC" fits perfectly into that narrative: a song about connection, healing, and the quiet strength of bonds that cannot be broken.
Conclusion:
Daoko's "SYNC" is a warm, emotionally resonant ending theme that perfectly captures the heart of TANK CHAIR. With its comforting melody, lyrics of sibling love, and a stunning jacket illustration by Yashiro Manabu, the song stands as one of the most moving anisong releases of the Autumn 2026 season.
For longtime fans of Daoko's work, this single is another chapter in her extraordinary career — a reminder of why she remains one of Japan's most unique and fearless creative voices. For viewers of TANK CHAIR, it is the perfect closing note to each episode: a moment of warmth before the next battle begins. And for anyone who has ever loved someone enough to stay by their side through silence and stillness — this one is for you.
