Introduction:
The Autumn 2026 anime season has gained its most adrenaline-fueled opening theme yet from one of Japan's most legendary rock bands. On October 5, 2026, 10-FEET officially released their 23rd single, "Fortress Defense" — the opening theme for the first cour of the highly anticipated second season of the TV anime Aoashi, which premiered on October 4, 2026, on NHK E-TV.
This release marks a historic first for the Kyoto-based trio: it is their first-ever soccer-themed anthem, following a career defined by iconic sports anthems including "Dai Zero Kan" (the ending theme for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, which surpassed 400 million streams), "gg燦然" (the 2024 ABC Professional Baseball theme), and "Mannbrin City" (the TIGERS B-LUCK DYNAMITE SERIES 2026 theme). The music video premiered on YouTube at 19:00 JST on October 5, the same day as the digital release.
The Sound: A High-Velocity Anthem of Defensive Intensity:
"Fortress Defense" is a track that embodies the relentless energy of competitive soccer. The song was written specifically for Aoashi Season 2, capturing the intensity of the series' depiction of youth soccer at the highest level.
Why "Fortress Defense" Matters:
A First for Soccer, A First for Aoashi
Despite their legendary status as creators of sports anthems, "Fortress Defense" marks 10-FEET's first-ever soccer-themed song. Given the band's history with basketball (Slam Dunk), baseball (ABC), and multiple other sports, this foray into soccer was a natural next step — and one that fans have eagerly anticipated.
The Perfect Match for Aoashi's Spirit
Aoashi is not a story about a genius who wins effortlessly. It is a story about a boy who must learn, adapt, and fight for every inch of ground. "Fortress Defense" captures this spirit perfectly. The song is about defense — the unglamorous, relentless work of stopping the opponent, protecting your goal, and refusing to yield. It is a theme that resonates deeply with the series' themes of growth through struggle.
The "Live Feeling" Spark
NAOKI's description of the song as "live-feeling, full-spark" is key to understanding its power. 10-FEET is a band built for the stage, and "Fortress Defense" is a song designed to be shouted along with, to raise fists to, to lose your voice to. In a stadium or a living room, it carries the same infectious energy.
Conclusion:
10-FEET's "Fortress Defense" is a triumphant, high-velocity opening theme that perfectly captures the spirit of Aoashi Season 2. With its driving rock sound, lyrics of defensive intensity, and the band's signature live-feeling energy, the song stands as one of the most exhilarating anime themes of the Autumn 2026 season.
For longtime fans of 10-FEET, this single is another chapter in a legendary career — a band that has spent nearly three decades creating anthems that inspire athletes and fans alike. For viewers of Aoashi, it is the perfect musical gateway into the next phase of Ashito's journey. And for anyone who has ever fought for something — a dream, a team, a place to belong — this one is for you.
