Introduction:
The Autumn 2026 music calendar has gained one of its most delightfully heartwarming releases yet from one of Japan's most beloved girl rock bands. On October 5, 2026, SILENT SIREN officially released their latest digital single, "Nikoichi! (ニコイチ！)" — the theme song for the TV anime Tanuki to Kitsune (タヌキとキツネ) , which premiered on October 4, 2026 as part of TV Tokyo's "Animori!" programming block.
This release marks the band's first anime tie-up in eight years, since "Sakura Saku Aoi Haru" (the opening theme for Rilu Rilu Fairilu) and "Go Way!". It is also their first new single in seven months, following their previous release. Written by vocalist/guitarist Su (すぅ) and featuring jacket artwork designed by bassist Aina Yamauchi (山内あいな) , "Nikoichi!" is a cute, pop-infused "Saisai" sound that perfectly captures the warm, whimsical world of its parent anime.
The Sound: A Cute and Pop-Infused "Saisai" Anthem:
"ニコイチ！" is a track that embodies everything fans love about SILENT SIREN. The song features Su's signature high-tone vocals layered over light, catchy guitar and keyboard melody lines, creating a cute and pop "Saisai" sound that is unmistakably the band's own.
Why "ニコイチ！" Matters:
An 8-Year Milestone
SILENT SIREN's return to anime tie-ups after eight years is a significant moment for the band and their fans. Their previous anime themes — "Sakura Saku Aoi Haru" and "Go Way!" — are beloved by longtime followers, and "ニコイチ！" continues that legacy with a song that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
A Song for Everyone
Su's lyrics are deliberately written to be accessible to listeners of all ages, particularly children. The phrase "Also, let's meet here again tomorrow" is designed to capture the weekly excitement of watching the anime while also offering the comfort of knowing that the characters — and the song — will always be there.
The "ニコイチ！" Philosophy
The title "ニコイチ！" — "two as one" — is a beautiful encapsulation of the song's message. It is not about being the same, but about embracing differences and finding common ground. It is a philosophy that resonates far beyond the anime, offering a gentle reminder that shared values can bridge any divide.
A Creative Collaboration
The fact that Su wrote the lyrics and Aina Yamauchi designed the jacket artwork demonstrates the band's hands-on approach to their music. This is not a commissioned work created by an outside team — it is a genuine expression of the band's identity, crafted with care by the members themselves.
Conclusion:
SILENT SIREN's "ニコイチ！" is a delightful, heartwarming theme song that perfectly captures the spirit of Tanuki to Kitsune. With its cute and pop-infused "Saisai" sound, its lyrics about sharing what matters with the people you love, and its charming character artwork by Aina Yamauchi, the song stands as one of the most charming releases of the Autumn 2026 season.
For longtime fans of SILENT SIREN, this single is a welcome return to the anime theme space after eight years. For viewers of Tanuki to Kitsune, it is the perfect musical companion to a story about friendship, acceptance, and the joy of being "two as one." And for anyone who has ever had a best friend who understands them without words — this one is for you.
