Introduction:
Hearts2Hearts has done it again. On October 11, 2026, the SM Entertainment girl group released their latest Japanese track, "Candy Box Lover," the ending theme for the Japanese broadcast of 『デザート キャッチ！ティニピン』 (Sweet & Sour Catch! Teenieping) Season 4. The release comes just one day after the song's digital drop and positions the group as one of the most in-demand K-Pop acts in the Japanese anime space.
Having already performed the opening theme for the same anime, Hearts2Hearts now holds the rare distinction of singing both the OP and ED for a major Japanese animated series. Here is everything you need to know about Candy Box Lover—its sound, its meaning, and why it matters for the group's Japanese expansion.
The Song: Electropop Sparkle in Under 3 Minutes:
Candy Box Lover is a brisk 2 minutes and 58 seconds of pure, synth-driven electropop. The track was written and composed by 2tros, with arrangement handled by 2tros (Digz, Inc. Group) and HANAEL.
The song's production is built around bright synth stabs, bubbly basslines, and a chorus that bursts like a handful of Pop Rocks. The lyrics, a blend of Japanese and English, capture the "fluttering excitement just before opening a box of sweets"—a fitting metaphor for the anime's dessert-themed world.
The Anime: 『デザート キャッチ！ティニピン』 (Sweet & Sour Catch! Teenieping):
Candy Box Lover serves as the ending theme for Season 4 of the popular Korean animated series Catch! Teenieping, which airs in Japan as Dessert Catch! Teenieping. The series is produced by SAMG Entertainment and has become a phenomenon across Asia, with a dedicated young fanbase that follows the adventures of the Teenieping characters.
The Japanese broadcast of Season 4 began airing on October 3, 2026, with Candy Box Lover featured as the ED from Episode 14 onward. The song was specifically written for the anime, making it a true OST original rather than a repurposed single.
For Hearts2Hearts, this marks their second consecutive theme song for the franchise, following their work on the opening theme. SM Entertainment has positioned this as a strategic expansion into the Japanese market, leveraging the anime's built-in audience to introduce the group to younger listeners.
Conclusion:
Candy Box Lover is more than an anime tie-in. It is a perfectly calibrated piece of pop confection—sweet, energetic, and impossible to shake. Hearts2Hearts has proven that they can not only compete in the J-Pop space but thrive in it, securing two theme songs for a beloved franchise and booking major festival appearances.
For fans of the anime, the song is now inseparable from the show's dessert-fueled adventures. For K-Pop listeners, it is another example of how Korean groups are increasingly shaping the Japanese anisong landscape.
